Here comes Fall and its orange leaves, pumpkin spice everything and the pleasant in between season weather. September in Oklahoma is one of the best months of the year because the fair is in town and many other fantastic events to have a good time with friends and family. Well I’ll just cut to the chase and tell you about all the events you can enjoy in September!


September 1-9 The Annual Oktoberfest in the Park at the Choctaw Creek Park brings all the German cuisine, local and imported beer and German entertainment. This fun cultural event is a great opportunity to learn more about German traditions and try their delicious food.


September 5-10 The Little Mermaid comes to Oklahoma City for Broadway’s Under the Sea Spectacular! This magical play tells the story of a magical kingdom beneath the sea and a beautiful young mermaid that longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. You don’t want to miss this Broadway show!


September 6 American Idol winner David Cook rocks the historic Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City. This platinum recording artist is ready to show why he was the Idol winner and get the crowd moving!


September 9 The Governor’s Annual Septemberfest at the Govenor’s Mansion is back! The family festival is hosted by the state of Oklahoma’s first family with attractions and activities as well as hands-on learning for children such as crafts and old-fashioned games. In addition, the popular event celebrates the history and heritage of Oklahoma with food, live entertainment and story-telling


September 9 Catch Los Lonely Boys on their Revelation Tour when they come to Hudson Performance Hall in Oklahoma City. Doors open at 7pm. Show begins at 8pm.


September 10 Come out and support our local soccer team Energy FC as they face off against Vancouver Whitecaps at Taft Stadium.


September 17 Come out and support our local team Energy FC against our Oklahoma rivals Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Taft Stadium.


September 14 – 24 The event we’ve been waiting for all year long, the Oklahoma State Fair. Come and enjoy amazing food, play some of the best games and get on some awesome rides! Enjoy the Xtreme Bulls Tour & Concerts, the largest portable Ferris Wheel in North America, a JKF Exhibit, Disney on Ice, amazing concerts and don’t forget the delicious food!


September 14-30 Shakespeare comes to Oklahoma! Enjoy the classic play “Hamlet” with a gorgeous backdrop of the Myriad Gardens water stage. This event is fun and educational for all ages to enjoy!


September 15-16 The Hollywood singing sensation Robin Thicke comes to the Riverwind Casino. Enjoy some slots and table games before you dance the night away to Robin Thicke’s show!


September 16 Edmond’s Heard on Hurd Street festival comes back for its monthly residency. Come out for the amazing local music, food, and pop up shops. Support local artists through this fun event and the famous food trucks of the state.


September 24 Come out to win at The Oklahoma Derby in Remington Park. The 2017 edition of Oklahoma Derby Day will have total purse money of nearly $1.4 Million! There’s a lot to win and a lot of fun to be enjoyed during the thoroughbred races and more.


September 26 Are you in the mood for a good musical with sounds of Carole King? Beautiful is a musical all about Carole King’s journey to stardom and her classic tunes. You don’t want to miss it!


September 28 – The alternative rock sensations Young the Giant come to The Criterion with special guest Cold War Kids. Enjoy their latest hits at this prime Bricktown venue!


September 30 The Plaza District Festival features a wide array of live musicians, food trucks, visual artists and children’s activities in this fun eclectic neighborhood. The Festival is free and open to the public and offers the surrounding neighborhoods an arts festival right in the heart of their community.


September 29 – 30 Fun for the kids at the Day out with Thomas at the Oklahoma Railway Museum. This fun-filled event offers little engineers and their families the opportunity to take a ride with a 15-ton replica of Thomas the Tank Engine, star of the popular Thomas & Friends™ series.  Children will ride along with their favorite hero on his latest adventure.  The tour, now in its 22nd year, will make stops in more than 45 US cities, and is expected to welcome more than one million passengers in 2017.

There’s no shortage of fun for the month of September so its time to enjoy the last bit of good weather! Halloween is around the corner so things will get cold and spooky soon!
