Just when you think you can’t make any more “Friends for Life”, life keeps sending more and more your way! We truly are over the moon by how many great people we met at the two latest events that we attended, Peruvian Festival and Viva Oklahoma! We were able to connect to the Latino community and best of all celebrate with them!
The Peruvian Festival
The fun festival was in celebration of Peru’s Independence Day where the joyous crowd could not contain their happiness. There was plenty of delicious Peruvian food like ceviche and Peru’s favorite soda, Inca Cola. The event had talented dancers dressed in traditional clothing to accompany the beautiful Peruvian music.
The consul of Peru, Enrique Villar was the guest of honor where he announced the winners of the Peruvian beauty pageant. The winners, little miss, miss and Mrs. Peru were all crowned and walked the runway to show off their beauty. To conclude the event there was a spectacular singer, performer called Charito from Peru. Charito sang traditional Peruvian songs while the crowd sang along. Her voice and talent were impressive!
We gave away tasty cookies, Kalidy bags, Kalidy water bottles and our awesome giveaway included $100 to Texas de Brazil restaurant. Our lucky winner of the giveaway was Vicky Villanueva thanks to her remarkable selfie with Big Foot Kal!
Our second event was this past Saturday for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s annual Viva Oklahoma event! This was our first time attending this event and we were taken back by how many people and businesses take part in this great event. Viva Oklahoma is an annual business exposition and job fair and this year was the largest attendance ever! There were over 50 businesses of all markets including Oklahoma City Thunder, OGE, Energy FC, local radio and television stations, Sonic, Tinker Federal Credit Union and so much more.
To start there was a ribbon cutting ceremony with prominent leaders of Oklahoma City and the Latino community such as Mayor Mick Cornett, Senator Michael Brooks Jimenez, and president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce David Castillo. There mariachi played in celebration of the ribbon cutting and the festivities began!
There were tons of prizes and goodies being given away to the cheerful crowd. Big Foot Kal could not resist and he attended the event to make more friends for life and again…selfies! We had more tasty cookies to give away, Kalidy bags and waters and lots of rent to own information.
For our main giveaway, we had two concert tickets to Pepe Aguilar which had everyone excited and signing up for. The lucky winner Maria Elizondo was announced on stage with a drum roll by the Thunder drum line and cheerleaders!
We were so happy for Maria Elizondo because she was ecstatic to win and shared she is a longtime fan of Pepe Aguilar! It’s a joy to do giveaways and see the happiness on the winner’s face!
After many selfies and information about the Kalidy Homes the event concluded with more traditional Mexican music. It truly was a blast to be a part of such a festive event and get to know the Latino community!
