And so the adventure of 2018 begins! This month is popular around the world for being record-setting in gym memberships and health clubs. Everyone’s dedicated to reaching their goals and taking full advantage of the New Year. Just remember to celebrate those first steps towards reaching your goals. Luckily, there are a TON of opportunities in OKC this month to continue to ring in the New Year on a high note.

January 1-28: Devon Ice Rink

With phrases like “polar vortex” being thrown around on the news this month, the ice at the Devon Ice Rink probably won’t melt anytime soon. Go have some fun with the Winter Weather on the ice before January 28th!

January 13: Winter Olympics Expo

Swing by the Myriad Gardens from 4PM-8PM to celebrate the Winter Olympics coming up in February. The Devon Ice Rink and Park House Events Center will be packed with festivities and even offer the chance to meet the expo athletes. Dress in red, white and blue in support of USA!

 

January 2-7: The Color Purple

Enjoy Broadway? Be utterly entertained by the 2016 Tony Award Winning classic, “The Color Purple.” Performances are located at the Civic Center Music Hall for only six consecutive days.

January 2-14: Augmented Reality Pop-Up Museum

Virtual Reality is all the rage in technology right now. Witness the innovation for yourself at the Oklahoma Science Museum from the 2nd to the 14th. All you need is your smartphone or tablet to peek into the unseen reality scattered across the museum. Don’t have a smartphone or tablet? January 14: Snowy Pagoda- Painting in the Gardens

With a 16×20 canvas, bring the magic of the Winter Olympics alive right here in the Myriad Gardens. Bring your own snacks and be prepared to get artsy from 11AM-1PM. Don’t worry, you’ll visualize the Gardens by overlooking the landscape warmly from the Terrace Room.

January 15: Martin Luther King Jr Day: Celebration in the Gardens

Spend your morning honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by participating in historical and uniting events. Musical performances, artistic demonstrations and soul food from Melodee’s Soul Food and Creole will be served up all morning long.

January 19-21: International Finals Rodeo
